About Mrs. Lasher
I graduated from East Carolina University in the Spring of 2012. Fresh out of college, I found a wonderful position teaching fifth grade at Chocowinity Middle School, (a 5-8 school) in Beaufort County. In two years there, I met some amazing people, and learned so much about teaching, education and children. A few summers ago, looking to move to Raleigh to be closer to my then boyfriend, I found Douglas Elementary, and fell in love. 4 years later, Justin and I are married and I am so excited to be teaching 4th grade this year, at a school that inspires children to explore the creative arts and science. So often, science is overlooked in the primary grades, and students struggle to build a strong foundation of science skills and concepts in middle and high school. I believe that providing students with diverse opportunities allows them to learn and grow into creative problem-solvers and productive 21st century citizens.
Justin and I love living in North Raleigh and enjoy supporting the Carolina Hurricanes and East Carolina Pirates. We have a cat named Pepper, who keeps us entertained with her endless conversations. In the summer of 2017, I found my way back to a passion of mine, swimming. I had the best time coaching the Quail Hollow Amberjack Swim Team and have some big dreams for my summer swimmers in the coming years. I will be looking forward to seeing some Amberjack faces in my classroom this year!
